概要
講演タイトル:Investigating the Human Olfactory System across Different Scales of Analysis
講演者:Dr. Jay A. Gottfried(Professor of Arthur H. Rubenstein University)
講演要旨:The mechanisms by which the human olfactory system is able to detect, discriminate, and identify odors remain poorly understood. Over the last few years, our lab has utilized a multimodal approach for characterizing how odor information is packaged and encoded in the human brain. By implementing different methodological tools across different levels of analysis — from the microscopic to macroscopic — we are now beginning to develop a richer, more holistic understanding of the human olfactory system. In this talk, I will discuss our recent work spanning the microscopic level of cellular and molecular properties in the human olfactory epithelium and bulb, the mesoscopic level of intracranial EEG recordings in human piriform cortex, and the macroscopic level as exemplified via fMRI studies of human odor navigation.
